Will you be celebrating your Online Sales with Champagne this New Year?

The holiday season is upon us and many eCommerce store owners will be rubbing their hands together, while boldly expecting a bumper few weeks of business, followed by expensive champagne at New Year. The fact of the matter is that like in the three dimensional world, not all online businesses can expect to be successful.

I share my office at Gproxy Design with two of our SEO consultants; they are a strange pair who gets a little over excited about things like Pay Per Click campaigns, search engine optimization and click through rates. I will never be an expert in this area and must confess that much of the time they seem to be speaking in riddles.

Two very valuable lessons that I have learned from these guys are firstly that you can have a beautiful shop, but nobody will visit if they don’t know where it is. The second lesson I have learned is that building a successful online presence takes time and effort.

If by the New Year you are looking back on this holiday period feeling confused, with a glass of water in your hand and nothing but regrets, then you might consider taking the time to consult the two strange guys from across my office. They would be happy to discuss building an SEO strategy for the success of your website throughout 2010 and give you the opportunity to purchase a magnum of celebratory champagne come New Year 2011.

Are you relating items?

Research has shown that one of the best ways to increase average order value and sales is to use some form of related items functionality.

Some of the statistics involved from use of this strategy are staggering; one recent survey by MyBuys Inc. suggested an average conversion rate increase of more than 900% for related products. This result was not generated canvassing one or two selected clients, but a cross section of 130 MyBuys retail clients.

At Gproxy Design we offer custom designed websites that take advantage of key out-of-the-box NetSuite functionalities such as Related items and Co-related items in order to help boost sales.

The Related items functionality allows our clients to recommend specific products related to the items their clients are interested in. Using this tool can help boost sales for specific product lines within your store.

Example from www.amritasingh.com

The Co-related items functionality is even more intuitive as it calculates which items to recommend to each customer based on the shopping habits of previous shoppers when buying the same item. This is a great way to increase the average spend of your shoppers through each transaction.

At Gproxy Design we have taken things a step further by partnering with MyBuys Inc. These guys are market leaders when it comes to matching shoppers desires with a websites products and then converting that into sales. Their unique approach takes into account each shopper’s habits and history and generates a suggestion of the best possible products to buy.

If you would like to learn more about improving conversion rates, increasing the average spend of your shoppers and driving more traffic to your website, then why not call a Gproxy Sales Consultant on 1-800-814-4761 or click here to ask for some advice.

Good News for the Economy is Great News for eCommerce.

The economic results released today may put a smile on the faces of many people. The results I am referring to are for the economic growth for the 3rd quarter of this year. The US governments’ figures point to a 3.5% growth in GDP (Gross Domestic Product) and therefore some strong signs that the worst economic crisis in living memory may be starting to come to an end.

The eCommerce industry has been hit by the recession like other industries, but maybe to a lesser extent. Now is the right time for online businesses to take advantage and grasp on to any glimmer of hope that these latest results provide.

Many economists are keen to point out that unemployment is still high and the USA won’t be clear of recession until sometime next year. But my understanding is that the best way to get out of a recession is to encourage consumer confidence and spending.

As an online retailer, you can help the economy and help yourself by taking advantage of the best online sales strategies, eCommerce consulting services and eCommerce store functionalities that are available to you.

The holidays are just around the corner; consumer confidence is starting to rise, is your eCommerce store ready to take advantage?
